Criteria-based Research on Fundamentals of Embedded System Development in Higher Education

چکیده

Computer science in general, and embedded system development in specific, is experiencing a fast change in technology paradigms. Educators have to decide which of the current topics last long enough to be fundamental and thus, worth teaching. Based on normative and empirical data, this paper discusses which didactic criteria are needed to identify fundamentals of a discipline. The authors are focusing on embedded system development in higher education. Examples and counterexamples of fundamentals, as well as an analysis of a practical course for embedded system beginners, illustrate the benefits of this procedure.
